Scarlett Lillian workshop at One Ocean Resort

I'll be updating quite bit over the next couple of days as I have a ton of stuff to talk about after the weekend I had.

If you missed my last post I highly suggest you go look at it. This sums up the weekend I had from a fun/friendship perspective.

But, I wanted to share with you some things I took away from Scarlett's Workshop . This was the first workshop I have attended and was not realy sure what to expect, but I knew I wanted to push myself to the limit. That can be a bit overwhelming when you are surrounded by twenty amazingly talented women from all over the country.Oh yeh, and having your face videoed over the course of a few days. Luckily, the guys videoing were The Bui Brothers: Vu and Lan . These guys have some mad talent when it comes to New Media, photography and video. I learned a lot from these guys.
The workshop took place at One Ocean in Atlantic Beach,FL which is close to Jacksonville, FL. This resort was amazing. The decor was top touch, grand staircases, and this amazing blue tunnel which I will show you when I edit those images.

The first night of the workshop we had a little black dress party with the girls, so we could get to know one another and embrace our fabulous selves. (pictures to come on that later). Then the first actual day of the workshop we did a photo shoot with this BEAUTIFUL couple Scarlett contacted. It is definitely a new experience trying to get photo when there are 19 other people with cameras trying to get their images too. So, here are my favorite three from that shoot.

The more I am photographing, the more I am trying to find new and different angles tht aren't the "normal" centered pictures. So, the rule of thirds was good to apply here.

And what mini-vaca would be complete with pictures of my accomodations :) The details of this place were pretty cute. It is a old motel that was renovated, very quaint, has a lot of nostalgic appeal. I stayed at the Palms Retro which is just a couple blocks from Atlantic Beach. The girls I stayed with and I now refer to ourselves as "The Retro". Look at the video from my previos post to see all of the awesomeness that is "The Retro".

But, here are a few detail shots I took of the place I stayed:

Each room at the Palms Retro is themed differently: Marilyn Monroe, the old school TV shows, the "bad boys" from long ago, or in my case....John Wayne. Loved the phones that were in our room, the little courtyard. It was perfect for us girls to get to know one another. So much so, we are planning a reunion tour sometime soon!!

There are more images to come for sure, just have not had the time to edit and process them...I am stuck in an airport right now waiting to get home since I have not seen my boys in four days. As a mamma, that's pretty brutal. Here's one of my favorite pictures of myself from the weekend though...taken by my new Canadian friend, Erin Campbell .

Stay tuned, I'm going to get the rest of the images up soon!!

Thanks for the "mad talent" shout out!

Love the detail shots of the Retro... I sorta wish we'd stayed there after the experience at the One Ocean. It was beautiful and clean, but not much more. ;)
